I was hired as a full-time English teacher responsible for creating and implementing lessons for freshman standard classes, senior core classes and senior standard classes.  Highlights include career presentation project with students using PowerPoint presentation software, research project with students publishing both on hard copy and on the Internet, creation of various web quests and computer presentations to foster learning, and integration of various print and non-print media into the classroom.  Other responsibilities include taking of minutes for technology committee for the school, creating and maintaining a web site for the English / Basic Skills department and advisement concerning department computer lab.

 As a student teacher, my requirements included the creation and implementation of lesson plans for a freshman honors English class and a junior standard class.  I began teaching from the beginning of the school year and had full control over classroom management, curriculum implementation, and assessment.  Highlights of my experience included the creation of a web site by the freshman class about a novel they had read, HSPT / HSPA preparation, and writing tutorials.  I also assisted with the school web site and worked with teachers on creating an instructional research skills packet.

Along with my partner, I started a web design and computer consulting business in order to promote small businesses on the Internet and create custom-designed web pages for their companies.  This position requires contacting of potential customers, intense creative design in tandem with the customer, and encoding the HTML with information to help promote the customer’s site.   This position also carries with it the responsibility of all financial concerns (accounts payable, accounts receivable, reporting), marketing, and communication with clients.

This position required the management of information systems, network administration, trouble shooting, data transmissions (both inflow and outflow), data translation, consulting to management regarding all aspects of computer systems, training of personnel on the computer programs, and custom web page design for in-house Internet access.   With the acquisition of OraCare by United Dental Care of Texas, the responsibilities of managing the conversion of data from one system to another, the training of personnel on the new system as well as the local and regional programs, all fell under this position’s jurisdiction as well.   As the chief holder of information on the system, responsibilities of this post included communication and implementation of compliance-reporting issues to the State of New Jersey and the transition of those reporting mechanisms to the appropriate departments in the main office in Dallas.
