Relationships

What are some of the most prominent relationships in your life?  If three of the relationships you listed were male and female relationships, the relationship between you and your family, and the relationship between you and your friends, then you have a lot in common with Esperanza, the main character in The House On Mango Street.   We focused on these three relationships from the book through the eyes of Esperanza, and give a good, in-depth view of each.

Our group consisted of three members, so we decided that each of us would focus on one of the relationships listed above.  This way we were able to cover more ground than if we all worked together on all of the subtopics.  We all worked hard almost nonstop to finish our page on time, as well as making it at the best we possibly could.  We hope you enjoy your visit.  Please come again.

Rewriting the end of "Monkey Garden" Vignette

Male and Female Relationships in the Book

Similarities & Differences

As an assignment we had to rewrite the ending of the vignette entitled "Monkey Garden".  This vignette looks at Esperanza's coming of age, her family relationships and her confusion.

Family Relationships

Our class looked at six different vignettes from The House on Mango Street.  We focused specifically on what Cisneros may have been trying to tell the reader about male and female relationships.

Male and Female Relationships

Using the Venn Diagram format, Lucy and Rachel, Sally, and Marin are compared and contrasted against Esperanza.
