If you look around a crowded room, you see so many faces. Just a blur of color, a flash of brilliance. When you look on the outside, you think everyone is different. How could people that are different colors, shapes, and sizes, be the same? It's when you get down to the core of people's souls that you see we're all the same.
In The House On Mango Street, Esperanza wanted so much to fit in. She would do anything to have friends and some fun. If you think about it, those are everyone's wants. Everybody wants to love and be loved; to smile once in a while, to enjoy life, to go crazy, to hurt, to cry. Most of all, everyone wants to be happy. We'd be able to live together in peace and harmony. We'd be able to see that we are all the same, no matter what your color, religion, ethnic background, etc.
